Today Year 6 had the opportunity to learn how to play the djembe, a West African hand drum. Fanuel, a drummer from Zimbabwe, came into school and taught us to play different rhythms on the drum. We learned how to create different pitch and volume by hitting different parts of the drum skin with different parts of our hands. He also spoke to us about the country he is from. Fanuel answered our questions as well as teaching us drumming. We really enjoyed our first session and can’t wait to learn more next week!
