We have had a brilliant week preparing for and celebrating the King Charles’ coronation, incorporating maths, speaking and listening and understanding the world within our activities. We found out lots of facts about King Charles and what will happen during his coronation. As we watch the coronation on the television tomorrow, we are going to look out for the coronation crown, which is called St Edward’s Crown (we replicated this with gold and purple paint and fake sequins), The Coronation Chair, The Sovereign’s Sceptres and The Sovereign’s Orb. We painted some fantastic Union Jack flags and attached a willow stick so that we could hold it during our parade. We learned some of the words and signs to The National Anthem, ate an ice cream which was delivered by an ice cream van and produced a crown on the interactive white board. In the construction area we build structures to represent Buckingham Palace using wooden building blocks. In addition to our royal celebrations, we made our own playdough, carried out special helper duties and continued to put compostable materials into our compost bin.
