This term in UKS2, we are looking at how materials can change state. We started off by looking at a variety of changes and working out if they were reversible or irreversible. We discussed how there are always reactants and products when a material changes state and we identified some examples of this. To see an irreversible change in action, the children did a mini-practical where they mixed together white vinegar and bicarbonate of soda. This caused a chemical reaction which created carbon dioxide and inflated their balloon.
