This week in nursery we have continued to focus on beaches and Summer. We read the story, Bluey, The Beach and discussed words like; scuttle and pipi. We used the internet to find out what they mean and we watched a video of a crab scuttling and then we pretended to be crabs scuttling sideways. We also looked up the work pipi and discovered that it was a type of shellfish so we looked at images and videos of some pipi. For our reading session we worked on recognising our own name as well as some of our peers. During our maths session we focussed on subertising using some large dice. For PSHE we read Elmer the Elephant and discussed the similarities and differences that we have.
In addition, on Monday we took part in School Games Day by participating in ball skill games. To acknowledge The Woman’s World Cup which is about to commence, every class was designated a country and nursery’s was Norway. We dressed in the colours of the Norwegian flag and learned some interesting facts about Norway. We also made some flags which we waved during the whole school parade, held on the key stage 1 yard. Over the last fortnight we have been drawing some beautiful self-portraits. We looked in a mirror and carefully selected appropriate colours to draw our facial features. On Thursday, our fabulous artwork was displayed in The Windy Nook Art Gallery (our school hall) for everyone to see. As you may remember, we made some rotbots last half term and we examined them this week to see if they had decomposed enough to plant a seed in them. We discovered that they needed to be stirred and that they weren’t moist enough so we added some water. We will re-examine them next week. On Friday we had a great time at our 90s themed Summer festival. We danced to 90s music, had juice and biscuits for snack, had our faces painted by some year 6 pupils (if we wanted to), blew bubbles, doodled with chalk on the key stage 1 year and some of us had our nails painted.
