This week in nursery we have been finding out about Diwali, The Festival of Light. We made our own diva lamps using clay and painted them using some metallic paint. We talked about the fact that clay can be shaped and changed before it dries and hardens but once it has hardened it can’t be. We also used playdough to make diva lamps. We made pictures of diva lamps, mehndi patterns and rangoli patterns on the interactive white board. We made rangoli collages using sequins and pompoms and some of us also painted and drew some rangoli patterns.
Our maths focus this week was shape and spatial awareness and we made collages using natural materials outdoors and worked together to complete a variety of puzzles and jigsaws indoors. We carefully examined the puzzle pieces, looking for curved and straight edges and making matches with colours and shapes. Our literacy focus was reading and handling books appropriately. To improve our physical development we participated in Squiggle While You Wiggle and some action games. During our Friday outdoors session we made some beautiful rangoli patterns on the ground using chalk and paint.
