Year 4 visit Beamish

Year 4 were delighted to visit Beamish Museum this week, to follow up on their learning about climate change. The children learned a lot more about the carbon footprint in communities living in the 1820s, the 1950s and in 2023. They researched various aspects of life and how it would have impacted the environment. We learned how new technologies and new ways of living have required more fossil fuels to be burned, affecting the environment and the climate.

The children also got to visit different parts of the site and learn a lot about life in different eras of the past. They finished the day by each planting a beech tree to assist in carbon capture.

We’d like to say a huge thank you to parents and carers for supporting us to go on this trip, the adults who volunteered to help on the day and of course the fantastic staff at Beamish Museum.
