This week, children in year 6 have had a fantastic opportunity to visit Nissan in Sunderland. While there, the children learnt about the history of Nissan including some the Japanese traditions the company uses. They made a Daruma doll, which wishes them luck, to bring back to school. Year 6 then had the challenge to design a new Nissan car out of Lego. After that, they learnt more about the production line and as a team they produced identical cars in a timed competition. Finally in the afternoon, we were lucky enough to go down to the factory floor to see one of the robots. The robot very cleverly drew some of the children pictures and wrote messages to them. It was a fantastic day out with many children now considering a career within engineering.
