This week in Dragonflies and Ladybirds, the children have been keeping an eye on the weather each day when completing the message board. They have noticed that it had became very cold and that ice and frost was covering the ground. Over a couple of days, the children filled balloons with water and conducted their own experiment to see if different temperatures affected the water inside.
After coming together to look at the results, the children found that the balloons that stayed inside stayed the same and the ones outside froze. The children enjoyed looking and feeling the ice and were able to explain what it felt like. Following this, the children discussed what other places to test later in the week, they came up with the office, shed, classroom, outside, dining hall and our outdoor classroom.
Keep an eye out next week for some more frozen investigations!
