We have had an extremely busy week in nursery. We have focussed on Diwali for most of the week, making Diva lamps, Rangoli patterns and Mehndi patterns. We used clay to make Diva lamps. We moulded the clay into a sphere, rolled it, stuck our thumb in the top to create a hole and then we pinched and nipped around the hole until it was big enough to fit a tealight candle inside. When the lamps were dry and hard we painted them with either gold or silver metallic paint. We created some Mehndi and Rangoli patterns on the interactive white board. We also talked about bonfire night and learned that Guy Fawkes tried to blow up The Houses of Parliament and we used pastels to draw some firework patterns onto a night time scene of The Houses of Parliament. We made some delicious apple crumble with the apples that we collected from our grounds just before half term. We skilfully peeled, chopped and sliced the apples and weighed and counted the appropriate ingredients. We participated in Squiggle While You Wiggle and Playdough Disco. We used some coloured sand to make a big Rangoli pattern inside our tough tray and during our Friday outdoor session we created some Rangoli patterns on the ground using paint.
