Last week, Year 5 had the opportunity to visit Safetyworks! as part of our PSHE curriculum. We took part in a number of sessions in small groups that taught us how to stay safe in a number of scenarios. These included: what to do in a house fire; how to stay safe around water; how to use level crossings as a pedestrian; how to be safe using the Metro; how to stay safe online and road safety. The sessions were delivered by staff from the Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service, RNLI, Nexus and the local road safety team. The children learnt lots and really enjoyed the interactive approach to their learning, as well as the opportunity to explore scenarios in sets that replicated the real-life experiences.
