Ice investigations in nursery

As well as continuing to find out more about Spring, we have been investigating ice this week to participate in Science Week. We completed two different investigations. We compared the look of ice made with water, salt and water, food colouring and water and lemonade. We discovered some beautiful patterns within the ice when we examined it through magnifying glasses. The lemonade ice had the most bubbles in it the ice made with food colouring emphasised some striking markings within the ice. We also carried out an experiment to see the temperature of water made a difference to the speed in which it melted ice. We discovered that warm water was more effective that cold.

We made some play dough dough this week and added orange food colouring to it so that we could made some spring flowers. Some of us made some beautiful paintings of Spring flowers at the painting easel. We also completed Spring flower jigsaws on the interactive white board. During our maths sessions we participated in number rhymes and songs. During our physical development sessions we worked on moving with confidence and skill around, under, over and through balancing and climbing equipment. During our Friday outdoor session we went on a Spring walk around our school grounds. We spotted a lot of new growth and we could hear birds singing. During our morning walk we experienced a Spring shower but our waterproof clothing dried quickly during a lovely sunny spell straight afterwards. It was perfect Sprung weather!
