In maths this week we focused on counting and recognising numbers. We played a game with baking trays and pictures of biscuits. We counted the amount of chocolate chips in each biscuit and matched it to the number written on the tray. We also played a game called Miss Muddle which involved helping Miss Clough to count some cubes as she kept getting mixed up! On Wednesday we had a visitor from Gateshead Library. She read two stories to us and gave us some beautiful books to take home. Thank you to all of the parents who were able to join us as it was really well attended and lovely for the children to spend some time in school with their families. We have continued to care for our sunflower seedlings. As some of them have not sprouted we planted some more and we are eager to see some more seedlings appear after half term. We concluded our worm/composting topic by participating in an experiment. We separated into three groups and poured some water and mustard powder solution onto areas of grass around nursery. This is usually really exciting activity as in the past we have found lots of worms. However, this time we were unable to find any worms and think that it was due to how dry the ground is at the moment. We will try again next half term after we have had some rain!
