Elms have got off to a flying start in the first week of the new half term! They have impressed with their behaviour in class and around school, and have worked really hard.
In English this week, we’ve started working towards our first piece of writing, which will be inspired by the short film ‘Planet Unknown’. In maths, we’ve been learning about place value in numbers up to 1,000,000. We’ve also been thinking about our rights, and used this to design our class charter. We thought carefully about how we can work together to ensure everyone’s rights are upheld in school. We also carried out a science investigation into whether bread always lands butter side down, developing our skills in working scientifically. This afternoon, we started our new music topic, learning about the life of Gustav Holst. Over the coming weeks, we will enjoy listening to and responding to ‘The Planets Suite’. Much of topic work this half term is linked by a space theme.
We’re all looking forward to an exciting year ahead!
