Today, our class had the incredible opportunity to visit Segedunum Roman Fort in Wallsend — a site rich in history and bursting with stories from Roman Britain. From exploring the remains of the ancient fort to climbing the viewing tower and discovering Roman artefacts in the museum, it was a day full of learning, adventure, and imagination. We walked in the footsteps of Roman soldiers, learned about life on the edge of the Roman Empire, and even tried on Roman armour! The interactive exhibits helped us understand how people lived nearly 2,000 years ago, and we were amazed by the engineering behind Hadrian’s Wall.
- Article 28: Every child has the right to an education. Our visit to Segedunum was a brilliant example of learning outside the classroom. It helped us understand history in a hands-on way and sparked curiosity about the past.
- Article 31: Every child has the right to relax, play, and take part in cultural and artistic activities. Exploring the fort, engaging with museum exhibits, and participating in creative workshops gave us a chance to learn through play and cultural experience.
