We have had a wonderfully creative and festive week in nursery! The children designed their very own calendars to take home as a keepsake for the year ahead. They began by choosing a coloured card for the base and selecting paint for handprints using both hands. Once the prints dried, we added a special poem and laminated the calendars to preserve their beautiful work. The children then threaded a ribbon through holes at the top so the calendar could be hung, and finally attached a calendar tab at the bottom. This activity encouraged decision-making, fine motor skills, and creativity while producing something families can treasure all year.
We also watched Reception perform their dress rehearsal for the Nativity – it was absolutely brilliant! In maths, we explored movement patterns by counting claps, stamps, and other actions. At the craft table, we practiced attaching junk materials with masking tape, and some of us even managed to create small vehicles. For phonological awareness, we worked on rhyming words through fun games and activities. During outdoor time, we planted tulip bulbs – we can’t wait to see them bloom in spring! On Friday, we loved wearing our Christmas jumpers to nursery and sharing the festive spirit.
