This week, our Lower Key Stage 2 pupils began their new art focus on sketching. We started by free drawing an eye, encouraging the children to observe closely and sketch what they thought they could see. After this creative warm‑up, we explored how to break the eye down into simple shapes and steps, helping everyone understand proportion and how each feature fits together.
The children showed fantastic focus as they practised these skills, and they’re already building confidence in creating more detailed and realistic facial features by while drawing self-portraits. We can’t wait to see how their sketching skills continue to develop in the coming weeks!
