This week in Nursery, we focused on Easter and explored the Easter story together. Our playdough area had a special Easter and new‑life theme, complete with Easter chicks and spring decorations to spark imaginative play. We finished our Easter cards by writing names on the inserts of the cards we began last week, and we had great fun making chocolate nests using shredded wheat and melted chocolate—this led to some lovely science learning as we observed chocolate changing from solid to liquid, and then back to solid again once set. During our physical development and music session, we listened to classical pieces such as Morning Mood by Edvard Grieg, The Swan by Saint‑Saëns, and Debussy’s Arabesque. The children moved their bodies in response to the tempo and mood of each piece, imagining themselves as spring animals like bunnies and chicks. We also visited the school hall to view all of the wonderful paste‑egg competition entries from across the whole school—there was lots of excitement as the children spotted their favourites and admired the creativity on display! On Friday, we had a very exciting outdoor session—the Easter Bunny had visited our nursery garden! The children were thrilled to discover chocolates hidden among the plants and playground equipment! Some of us re-potted the lupin seedlings and spinach plants that we plated in the Winter which have outgrown their pots.
