During our final week of the academic year, we have had a wonderful time completing the last sessions of our summer topic. The children were very excited to reflect on all the fun learning experiences they have enjoyed and to take part in some fantastic summer-themed activities. For maths, we used Duplo bricks to measure the heights of our beautiful sunflower plants. The children carefully compared the different heights and counted how many bricks tall each sunflower was. Our fabulous Beach Party was a huge success! Each child was given five pennies and had the opportunity to choose which ice cream they would like, as well as whether they wanted it in a cone or a dish. The children then looked at the price list and calculated how many pennies they needed to hand over to the shopkeeper, who was played by one of the children using a toy till. Afterwards, we enjoyed our ice creams outside around the sandpit and used our imaginations to pretend we were spending a day at the beach. The beach-themed fun continued as we explored water-filled tuff trays. The children thoroughly enjoyed being squirted with the hose and imagined that huge waves were splashing over them at the seaside! We also completed beach-themed pencil control activities and enjoyed digging in the sand to discover hidden treasures such as jewels, shells, coins and pebbles. We also made colourful flags to place on top of the fabulous sandcastles we created in the sandpit. It has been a wonderful final week of learning, laughter and imagination, and we are incredibly proud of everything the children have achieved this year. We wish all of our families a very happy summer break!
