This morning the year 6 children were encouraged to think about their mental health. We talked about what we mean when we say ‘mental health’ and then thought of the different conditions associated with mental health. We then discussed what situations could impact our mental health.
All the children took part in an interactive activity. Firstly we graded how we felt today and marked this on our chart.
We then all took part in a fun and energetic game of dodge ball!
Once we had finished we sat back down and again scored how we were now feeling on our charts. We discussed how our scores had all (but one) improved after the game of dodge ball and then discussed how exercise has a positive effect on our mental health as it helps to release endorphins.
Once back in the classroom we discussed how the upcoming transition to our new schools in September can be a very stressful and anxious time. We all wrote down a worry we have about changing schools and placed them in the worry box ready for next week.
