As part of Children’s Health and Well-being week we would love for the children to take part in Dress to Express! today. Click on the link below for further information. Pick your favourite outfit and dress to express for our live meets today. We would love for you to do something today that expresses yourself! For example, art, write a short story, dance, football, cooking, sport, music. Anything you wish to choose! If you do choose to do this task today we would love it if you would send some pictures in so we can see how you have chosen to express yourself!
Todays home learning tasks are as follows:
Phonics: Our sound today is ‘cious’. Watch the video to learn todays sound, practise the spellings at the end of the video. At the end can you hold a sentence – It was a delicious cake.Play ‘odd and bob’ on phonics bloom. Click on ccvcc, cccvc, cccvcc words sets 1-7. Can you decide which words are real and fake.
Handwriting – practise writing the letter ‘s’ from your handwriting pack
English: GAP task – Complete p11 in your English homework book to practise using exclamation marks.
Reading – Read the book you have chosen this week.
Main task – Today we are going to write descriptive sentences. Firstly watch the video clip again and remember to concentrate on the fish and the octopus.
Can you use your descriptive grids from yesterday to write some of your own sentences to describe the fish and then the octopus. Write these in your English book.
Remember to make sure you use capital letters, finger spaces and full stops.
Maths: Speed calc – See if you can put the numbers in the correct order from smallest to greatest! Complete this task in your maths book.
Main task – Yesterday you completed measure word problems. Today you have a similar task, you need to answer the questions which are comparing and measuring length. You can answer the questions on the sheet, or use your maths book.
DT: Today we are going to look a little more at castles. What do you already know about castles? Who lived in them? What did they look like?
In 1066 William and Harold both lived in castles that were called Motte and Bailey castles. We are going to investigate what features this type of castle had, their purposes and their correct names.
Task:
* Look through the castles power point. What kind of features can you see and what do you think they might have been used for? Take a look at the different types of castles around the world. Which one would you like to live in?
* Can children label an image of a motte and bailey castle with features. E.g. tower, battlements etc. (The sheet can be found in this week’s home learning pack or here online.)
