Year 1 have been learning and practising their 2, 5 and 10 times tables in class. To encourage the children to become more confident and fluent with their times tables, they will be tested every Friday. This will start from next week (30.4.21) and for the next two weeks, the children will be tested on the 2x tables. They will be asked to answer six questions from 0x2 to 12×2. We will then move onto the 5 and then the 10 times tables. A text reminder will be sent to alert you on which times table they will be tested on that week.
To support your child’s learning at home you can practise the times tables in various ways! The children can write them down, chant and find the missing numbers. If yo have access to the internet at home you can log on to Times Table Rockstar’s https://ttrockstars.com/. Most children will have their login details, if not please ask your child’s class teacher and they can be passed on to you. The children regularly play ‘Hit the button’ https://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/hit-the-button in class and is another excellent tool to support the fluency of times tables.
