Gateshead Schools Health & Wellbeing Award: Silver

A huge well done to everyone involved at Windy Nook Primary School!

Below is a copy of the letter which has been sent from Steve Horne (Director of Education, Schools & Inclusion Children, Adults & Families) to Mrs. Forrest to congratulate us on achieving the Gateshead Schools Health & Wellbeing Award: Silver.

Dear Mrs Forrest,

Thank you for your school’s recent application to the Gateshead School Sport Partnership (GSSP) for the Gateshead Schools Health and Wellbeing Award (GSHWA).

As you are probably aware your application form was reviewed by our Validation Panel and further evidence was requested. The additional evidence has now been supplied. We are delighted to inform you that Windy Nook Primary School has subsequently and successfully achieved the Gateshead Schools Health and Wellbeing SILVER Award.

As a GSHWA School

Our Gateshead Schools Health and Wellbeing Service (GSHWS) exists to support and encourage school development within the area of health and wellbeing.  As a GSHWA school you are recognised for the work you are doing to develop and enhance your existing level of provision through engagement with the GSHWS dedicated award framework – ‘The GSHWA’.

We celebrate your commitment to developing and enhancing health and wellbeing within your school. In turn we would also like to thank you for your contribution to the overall vision of this service:

…the belief that ALL children and young people have a right to be healthy and that healthier children are more likely to achieve at school and in life.  Crucially it acknowledges that a school’s health and wellbeing is not just about children and young people, it is about involving the whole school and wider community together with many local services and agencies.

You will receive a certificate to be displayed in school as well as a logo that you are welcome to use on your headed paper etc.

We hope with your new Gateshead Schools’ Health and Wellbeing SILVER Award that you will continue to develop health and wellbeing provision in your school.

Your award is valid until 15/11/2023 (two years). You are welcome to upgrade your GSHW Award level at any point to set your next stretching objectives/outcomes and further your ambitions for health and wellbeing in your school.

Once again, a huge congratulations on the achievement of your SILVER Gateshead Schools Health and Wellbeing Award.

Best wishes,

Steve Horne
