Children in Lower Key Stage 2 have worked this half term on a D&T project to research, design and make a ‘seasonal’ sandwich. Children first learned about different breads of the world, doing a taste test to assess flavour, texture and appearance. Next, children learned that some fruits and vegetables are seasonal and that we should try to choose seasonal ingredients where possible.
This week, children have spent time designing different combinations of sandwiches, including seasonal ingredients. After trying different combinations, children designed their final sandwich and then made it and ate it. There were some delicious combinations and children got to practise skills such as cutting, chopping, grating, peeling and putting together the sandwich.
