This week in Science, Owls have enjoyed conducting a fair test investigation. Their objective was to investigate the distance a wheeled vehicle could travel down a ramp. The children made sure it was a fair test by:
- using the same ramp
- the same blocks
- the same car
- the same person to release the car
- the same person to measure the distance
Everyone had a turn a predicting whether or not 1 block, 2 blocks or 3 blocks would make the car travel the furthest. They found out that using 2 blocks allowed the car to travel the furthest at 51cms.
The type of enquiry that the children used was a fair test, pattern seeking and comparative.
The children then enjoyed conducting their own enquiry as a group.
