On Thursday, our Year 6 Boys’ Football Team staged a dramatic comeback victory against Oakfield! From 2-0 down and the jaws of defeat, with only ten minutes to go, the boys kept battling and managed to score three goals and take the win. The resilience, determination and teamwork was simply magnificent.
With the half-time score 1-0, the team was disappointed to concede another early in the second half; however, with some improved defending and two or three outstanding saves from our goalkeeper, the Nookers kept themselves in it.
Our first goal came from a great throw in, some battling on the edge of the box, followed by a cool finish. The equaliser was a spectacular free kick from long range. With two minutes left, three of our forward players combined superbly to create the winning goal.
The elation among the team was great to see. The boys deserved their win and, once again, were a credit to Windy Nook.
