Halloween, Fireworks and Apple Crumble!

I have just realised that this post was not posted last week This week as I had saved it into drafts instead of posting it! Please accept my apology! The usual Friday post will be added tomorrow as normal.

Miss Clough

This week we have focussed on Halloween and Bonfire Night/fireworks. On Monday, we enjoyed wearing Halloween themed outfits and participating in some fine manipulative strengthening exercises by hammering some golf tees into pumpkins using mallets. For phonics this week, we closed our eyes and used our sense of hearing to listen to a variety of different sounds like; a baby crying, an aeroplane and a toilet flushing (via the computer). As well as the correct answers, some of the children gave some really interesting ones too! During our maths session we performed the rhyme, Five Little Pumpkins and represented five with our fingers. For PSHE we have focussed on the emotion, happy and talked about what makes us feel happy. For ICT some of us made pumpkin pictures on the interactive white board. On Thursday, we used the remaining apples that we had previously collected from our school grounds and we made some apple crumble. We learned how to use a peeler safely to peel the apples by only holding the handle and never touching the sharp blade. We showed determination and resilience as peeling the apples was quite tricky! During our outdoor Friday session we produced some firework painting and used twigs and leaves to represent a campfire. As we sat around our campfire, we sang all of the nursery rhymes that we have learned so far this term as well as discussing Guy Fawkes.
