This week, the children in Year 5 have been introduced to a STEM challenge set by the Beamish Museum. In the first session we had a visit from Beamish where they explained the challenge: to make a toy crane out of K-Nex pieces. There are a number of rules as a team that we have to abide by, for example it has to be less than 1 metre and be able to lift and move an object with a minimum weight of 30g.
The children were able to have a practise using the K-Nex pieces and began to understand how it works. We are looking forward to the upcoming weeks where we begin our design and creation process, ready for the presentation at the Beamish Museum.
