This morning the children in Dragonflies and Ladybirds went on a scavenger hunt and explored our whole school grounds. We wrapped up for the cold winter weather and then looked around to see what plants we could see and whether we thought they were dead or alive. We talked about why some trees lose their leaves and learnt the new word ‘deciduous’. We found some buds and talked about what was happening to the plants and trees and why it was starting to happen now.

The children really enjoyed going on a colour hunt and found lots of different coloured objects on the top yard. We then went on a scavenger hunt on the field and searched for different animals and natural materials. Some of us even saw a squirrel!
Lastly we became scientists and had a closer look at our environment through magnifying glasses and binoculars.
We were all so happy to come back to the classroom and have a snack and a cup of hot chocolate or hot juice.
