Positional language professionals

Owls and Robins classes explored positional language in their maths learning by creating 3D models using cubes. Working in pairs, the children used words such as left, right, above and below to describe how to build their structures, carefully listening to their partner’s instructions. This encouraged them to think precisely about the position of each cube and to communicate their ideas clearly.

The activity helped to strengthen their understanding of spatial awareness while also developing their speaking and listening skills. It was wonderful to see how well the children collaborated, supporting one another to build accurate models and using mathematical language with growing confidence. We look forward to seeing them continue to apply these skills in future learning.
