Mrs Broomhall’s morning maths group impressed her so much this week with their wonderful problem solving ability.
This week the children had been exploring number systems other than our own and calculating using Roman Numerals. We then went on to look at codes where different digits were represented with different symbols.
The children were presented with a symbolic number square cut in to pieces and had to reassemble it… It was a very tricky task. They worked hard with their partners using some great problem solving language.
“That one must be 100 as it has 3 symbols and 100 has 3 digits”
“I think that symbol must mean 1 because it is in both 10 and 11”
Well done Y5/6!
