Mental Health Awareness in Year 5: It’s Good to Talk

Today was the second of our Year 5 well-being sessions with Dave from the First Step Group. This week we focused on mental health and the importance of talking to others about how we feel. The children engaged very well and their awareness of mental health problems and good mental health and how to try to maintain it. We thought about how it isn’t always obvious that someone may be suffering from mental health issues and how we should always be supportive and aware of how ourselves and others are feeling.

Article 17: You have the right to get information that is important to your well-being, from radio, newspaper, books, computers and other sources. Adults should make sure that the information you are getting is not harmful, and help you find and understand the information you need.

Article 24: You have the right to the best health care possible, safe water to drink, nutritious food, a clean and safe environment, and information to help you stay well.
