Welcome to Nightingales
Teachers: Miss Thompson, Mrs Welsh and Mrs McDonald
Welcome to Nightingales!
Welcome to Nightingales! We want our classroom to be a happy, friendly place where children are encouraged to feel confident, cared for and excited about learning. In Nightingales, we love celebrating achievements, supporting one another and helping every child to do their very best. We look forward to sharing lots of wonderful learning experiences and making happy memories together throughout the year!
Year 2 Homework
Homework is set every Friday and should be completed and returned by the following Thursday. Year 2 children will complete activities from their CPG books, alternating weekly between Maths and English tasks.
Year 1 Homework
During the first term, Year 1 children will take part in a ‘Pick and Mix’ style homework programme. Each week, children can choose an activity they would like to complete. Homework will be given out on a Friday and should be returned by the following Thursday.
Spellings
A spelling overview will be sent home at the beginning of each half term, outlining all the spellings children will be learning. Children will also receive a weekly spelling list containing that week’s focus words. Regular practice at home will help children to become confident and successful spellers.
Reading
Children should read at home every day for a minimum of 10 to 15 minutes.
Daily reading is vital for developing children’s fluency, vocabulary and comprehension skills. We encourage families to make reading a regular and enjoyable part of their child’s daily routine.
PE
PE Day: Wednesday
This term, PE lessons will be taught by Mr Peden. Please ensure that children have the correct PE kit in school each week.
We appreciate your support and look forward to working together to help every child achieve their very best.
