As part of PE Year 4 children take part in weekly swimming lessons held at Heworth Leisure Centre.  Children get 1 ½ terms of swimming.
26 out of 46 (57%) year 4 pupils could swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25m.
24 year 4 pupils (39%)  year 4 pupils could use a range of strokes (for example, front crawl, backstroke, breaststroke) when they completed swimming lessons.
24 year 4 pupil (39%) year 4 pupils could perform a safe self-rescue in different water based situations when they completed swimming lesson.

26 out of 45 (57%) year 6 pupils could swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25m when last assessed in Year 4.
26 out of 45 (57%) year 6 pupils could use a range of strokes (for example, front crawl, backstroke, breaststroke) when they completed swimming lessons.

As part of PE within Upper Key Stage 2, children take part in weekly swimming lessons held at Heworth Leisure Centre.  Children begin swimming in January within year 4 and continue for a calendar year, ending in December when they are in year 5.

24 out of 42 (57%) year 5 pupils could swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25m.

19 out of 42 (45%) year 6 pupils could swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25m.

19 year 6 pupils (45%) could use a range of strokes (for example, front crawl, backstroke, breaststroke) when they completed swimming lessons.

22 out of 43 (51%) year 6 pupils could swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25m.

22 year 6 pupils (51%) could use a range of strokes (for example, front crawl, backstroke, breaststroke) when they completed swimming lessons.

1 year 6 pupil (2%) could perform a safe self-rescue in different water based situations when they completed swimming lesson.

28 out of 42 (67%) year 6 pupils could swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25m.

24 year 6 pupils (57%) could use a range of strokes (for example, front crawl, backstroke, breaststroke) when they completed swimming lessons.

24 year 6 pupils (57%) could perform a safe self-rescue in different water based situations when they completed swimming lessons.

As part of PE within Upper Key Stage 2, children take part in weekly swimming lessons held at Heworth Leisure Centre.  Children begin swimming in January within year 5 and continue for a calendar year, ending in December when they are in year 6.

28 out of 36 (78%) year 6 pupils could swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25m.

25 year 6 pupils (69%) could use a range of strokes (for example, front crawl, backstroke, breaststroke) when they completed swimming lessons.

25 year 6 pupils (69%) could perform a safe self-rescue in different water based situations when they completed swimming lessons.

As a school we have decided not to choose to use the Primary PE and Sport Premium to provide additional provision for swimming.

35 year 6 pupils (84%) could use a range of strokes (for example, front crawl, backstroke, breaststroke) when they completed swimming lessons.

35 year 6 pupils (84%) could perform a safe self-rescue in different water based situations when they completed swimming lessons.
