Owls & Robins 29.06.20 Home Learning
Good morning Owls and Robins. Hope you all had a safe and fun weekend. Here are your activities for today:
English
This week you are going to be reading the story ‘Winnie and Wilbur Stay at Home’. Throughout the week you will be reading sections of the book and completing activities related to the section you have just read. The activities will be short writing tasks. We hope you enjoy the story! Try and read the story by yourself and use your phonic sounds to help you. You can access the story using the following link: https://www.oxfordowl.co.uk/api/interactives/30463.html
Today you will begin reading the story from page 6 to 11. Before you begin reading the story, look at the front cover and think about what might happen in the story, see if you can predict what might happen!
In your red writing book, you are going to write a short letter to Winnie and Wilbur explaining to them why its important to wash their hands and how staying at home will keep them safe. You could add a small picture at the bottom of the letter.
Phonics
This week we are going to focus on reading and recognising tricky graphemes. Sounds which look the same but can sound different. Today focus on ‘ow’.
Log onto Phonics Play and play the game ‘Cheeky Chimps’. You have to give the banana to the Chimp with the correct sound. Practise reading the word first before giving the banana to the chimp. See how many you get correct!
