Home Learning Support

Dear parents/ carers,

The five closed classes will all be learning at home from tomorrow. Initially, the classes will be set tasks in Google Classroom for KS1 and KS2 classes using a combination of resources already familiar to the children. Work for Ladybirds (Mrs Short’s reception class) will be posted on the school website. UKS2 classes will also post information for tomorrow’s learning on the website as well. Please log in each day to access the work for the day in order to reduce disruption to your child’s learning. We are well-prepared for home learning and the children have had opportunities to access Google Classroom and other websites both at school and at home.

From Wednesday, we will be using Meet within Google Classroom to share some pre-recorded teacher input and to host live lessons via Meet, if the class teacher is well enough and is not covering classes in school. This is new to staff as well as students, so please bear with us as we get used to this new way of working!

Google have a range of resources to support students and their carers with using Google Classroom. Visit https://support.google.com/edu/classroom/answer/9582544?hl=en&ref_topic=6020277 for guides to getting started with different devices. This post on our school website will help troubleshoot any login issues https://windynookprimary.org/2020/10/google-classroom-help/

For any forgotten usernames or passwords or any other issues with logging in to any of the sites we use, please drop us an email at windyrl@gatedu.org  For any questions relating to the work set, you can message your child’s teacher directly using the messaging functions within Google Classroom or use the email address.

We may be able to help if your child does not have access to a suitable device for home learning. If this is the case, please email us at windyrl@gatedu.org.

If there is anything else we can do to offer support to your family, please just let us know and we will do our very best to help.
