‘Arting’ in a Winter Wonderland

The children have enjoyed lots of art and craft activities linked to the theme of winter. Over the past few weeks they have painted winter scenes on foil canvases, created snowflakes and snowmen. The children have also learned art techniques of weaving to make glistening spider webs, and they make spiders legs by folding paper in different ways for a planned effect. (More photos to follow) The children were mesmerised by the magical appearance of the huge sparkly spider webs we made.

This week we have used art activities and circle time during ‘Hot Chocolate Friday’, as an opportunity to tune into and support Mental Health. We used the story “Aaaarrgghh Spider” by Linda Monks  and the Story “Lost and Found” By Oliver Jeffers,  as a way of discussing likes, dislikes, fears and worries and how to tackle them and the importance of friendships.
