Reception Home Learning work w.c. 01.02.21

Yet anther fantastic week with our home learners in Reception. This week they have been revisiting phonic sounds of ay, ee, igh and oo. They were introduced to the new red word ‘was’. Literacy they have worked so hard with caption writing remembering capital letters, finger spaces and full stops as well as thinking about their letter formation. Numeracy they have continued to count in 2’s up to 20 and were introduced to 3D shapes. By the end of the week they could name and identify the properties for a cube, cone, cuboid, cylinder and sphere. They played detectives and hunted around their house to find objects that were 3D shaped. Topic they read about different animals that live in the Arctic and Antarctica and made some crafts of those different animals.

The children also had great fun being part of Mental Health Week on Thursday where they ‘Dressed to Impress’ and then shared things that they liked and disliked. We found out that they enjoy singing, dancing, drawing pictures, playing football, making cards for family and lots more. There was quite a common theme of disliking onions and mushrooms as well as disliking having to stay home and not see family and friends. We had some fabulous outfits that they wore from sparkly dresses to astronauts and pilots..

Another week where we have been blown away with how amazing you are all doing at home. Again, thank you to all the adults at home for their support it is greatly appreciated.

Thanks Mrs Short and Mrs Ramanandi
