This week we have been focusing on the book, A Seed in Need by Sam Goodwin. The book names the parts of a plant and explains the function of each part. We made some edible collages using fruit and vegetables which represented plants with; roots, a stem, leaves and a flower. The children produced some fantastic collages and thoroughly enjoyed eating them afterwards.
To celebrate Language Festival Week we learned to sing Frere Jacques and watched a French online puppet show.
During our Friday outdoor session we had a worm hunt and collected worms for our compost bin. We used a water and mustard solution to pour over the grass and waited for the worms to surface. We didn’t have to wait long for lots of worms to appear which was very exciting! We counted the worms into the compost bin. One group managed to find sixteen worms in total! We also used worm identification charts to identify a variety of worms.
