Growth Mindset: Information for Parents

Dear parents and carers,

We have recently re-launched growth mindset across school with all children, and we would really appreciate your support in instilling a growth mindset in our pupils. If you would like to find our more about growth mindset, and learn strategies to promote a growth mindset with your children, the link below offers an overview of the concept of growth mindset and how to apply this. Developing a growth mindset can help children to overcome the challenges they face in learning (and life in general) and help them to become more resilient.

One of the most effective strategies we use is ‘The Power of Yet’. This encourages to children to believe that there aren’t things they can’t do, rather things they can’t do yet – it encourages a positive mindset. If we teach children to say ‘I can’t do it yet’ rather than ‘I can’t do it’, we help them to move away from a fixed mindset.
