The children have been reading ‘Oliver’s Fruit Salad’ story by Vivian French. They thoroughly enjoyed the story and shared their own experience of growing fruit and naming fruit. The children then made a shopping list ready for their tasting session. On Friday, the children explored different fruit and helped prepare them ready for our tasting session. The children all used the knifes safely and with good control. We then placed all the different fruit into small pots to share. The children tried banana, strawberries, grapes, oranges, pineapple, apple, pear and plums. We discussed the taste, smell, shapes, colours and texture of each different fruit. We discussed our favourite fruit and recorded the results on a tally chart. The children then converted the results from the tally chart onto a pictogram.
