In LKS2 the children have been learning about their rights linked to the UN convention of the child. We have already created class charters where we decided which rights were important to us in school. Today we learned about this in more detail. First, the children learned their birthday article creating their own icon to represent the article. Next, we learned about the features of a rights respecting classroom. The children then drew their own classroom showing different ways in which children’s rights can be protected. They came up with some super designs! Finally, we discussed how school council members are rights respecting and wrote speeches. Any children who want to become a school council member will read these speeches out to the class later this week and we will have a class vote nominating our two new school council members.
Article 42: You have the right to know your rights! Adults should know about these rights and help you learn about them too.
