This week, the children in years 3 and 4 have visited Segedunum Roman Fort. The children took part in two workshops. In one workshop, they learned how to battle like a Roman soldier, how to dress like a Roman soldier and even took an oath to become a Roman soldier. The children were lucky enough to see a fragment of a spear from Roman time which had been found at the fort by archaeologists. In their other activity, the children learned all about the Celts. They learned how to weave, grind wheat to make flour and took part in an initiation ceremony. The children also heard the story of Boudicca. The children also had the opportunity to look at exhibits in the museum, look around the fort itself and even visit the viewing deck. The children behaved fantastically and everyone had a great day!
