Penguin and Pinecone…a friendship story!

We have concluded our work on Penguin and Pinecone this week. In the story, when Penguin first discovers Pinecone he describes him as a curious object and tries to eat him, soon realising that he is “…too hard to be food…”.  So, we made some edible pine cones using cake, brown icing and chocolate buttons which were delicious and definitely not too hard! To make some brown icing sugar we mixed red and green food colouring together before adding it to icing sugar. We also mixed red and green paint to make brown paint which we used to paint pictures of a pine cone. We completed our Penguin and Pinecone pictures which are now proudly displayed on one of our nursery walls. We showed off our counting skills during maths this week as we played dominoes. We had great fun during our ‘Squiggle While You Wiggle’ session as we practised drawing straight lines. During our Friday outdoor session we experimented with water and did some more colour mixing.
