This week LKS2 began their new computing topic learning about coding. They began by writing instructions that a robot could follow. They needed their robot to stack cups in a particular way. In order for the robot to understand the instructions, the children used a series of arrows rather than written words. The children learned that when we use numbers or symbols to give instructions it is called an algorithm. The children took it in turns to write algorithms for their partner who acted as a robot to carry out the cup stacking. The children then discussed any problems or bugs that came up when they were carrying out the instructions. We then discussed how we could debug the algorithm to fix the problems.
