Happy Chinese New Year in Nursery

We have had a super week celebrating Chinese New Year. With our scientific brains, we examined raw and cooked noodles and discussed how different they looked and felt before and after they were cooked. We sat in our Chinese restaurant role play area to taste some Chinese food. Some of us could expertly use chopsticks to eat sweet and sour and chow main noodles. We made a dragon head and performed a fabulous dragon dance. We were very good at listening to the beat of the tambourine which informed us of how quickly or slowly we had to move our feet. We produced a variety of dragon themed pictures by using a PurpleMash program on the computer, painting as well as decorating a dragon stencil with colourful sequins which we then cut out and attached sticks to make it into a puppet. We used ICT to support our maths as we identified groups of Winter objects. We also learned how to operate a CD player and and chose which nursery rhymes we wanted to listen to. During Squiggle While You Wiggle we focused on making circles.
