This week we have participated in activities based around the book, Secretes of Winter. The book requires a torch to reveal hidden animals within some of the pages and we expertly used torches to find them and retell the story. We found out that snowflakes have six sides and that snowflake is different. We created some beautiful snowflakes using white art straws. We also used some 3D shapes to print with paint to represent animal footprints in snow which we also looked at in the book. During our outdoor Friday session, we created our own footprints by standing in some paint and walking across some paper. We thoroughly enjoyed scrubbing each others wellies afterwards to ensure we didn’t produce any footprints elsewhere!
During maths we used a variety of items to represent numbers in different ways. We practiced making arches in Squiggle While You Wiggle both on paper and in the air. During phonics we played ‘follow the leader’ and chose a way of moving while playing an instrument. For example, we played our instruments loudly and fast while moving energetically or quietly and slowly while moving lethargically.
