Today, Year 5 and 6 went on a fantastic trip to the Centre for Life in Newcastle. They were focusing on learning about Space and took part in a workshop where they used robots to replace solar panels on the International Space Station, tasted astronaut food and even investigated how much wee an adult space nappy could hold! The children explored the various other areas of the centre with a particular focus in the Space Zone and had a visit to the planetarium where they learnt about how the solar system affects the ice in the world. Finally, they watched Animals Got Talent in the Science Theatre which was an interactive live show and got sprayed with ‘seagull vomit!’ A visit to the gift shop rounded off the day nicely and the children have not stopped talking about their favourite moments – particularly drinking from a toilet in the Brain Zone!
