Artists like Alma Thomas in Nursery

As it is Black History Month this month we have focused on the artist Alma Thomas who was a black abstract artist. We examined two of her pieces, which are called Nursery Blue and Eclipse. The children really impressed us with their artistic talents and their attention for detail. Some of us produced one of Alma Thomas’ ark work using the interactive white board too. We also read a variety of books, which have a diversity theme and talked about ways in which we are similar and different.

We had a wonderful time on Friday during our outdoor session. As some of the children had asked where apples come from as we ate them during snack time, we walked to our ‘top field’ to have a ‘fruit adventure’! We searched for trees and looked to see if any of them had any fruit growing on them. We were fortunate to find a large harvest of apples and a few pears. As you can imagine, we had a brilliant time picking them! We brought them back to nursery to wash and we enjoyed eating them at snack time. Some of the children helped Miss Pearson assemble a wheel barrow which we will use during future outdoor sessions.
