KS1 took part in a practical experiment that investigated the properties of materials. Our learning intention was to be able to differentiate materials from everyday objects. As part of the investigation, the children were encouraged to describe and identify the properties of different materials found in everyday life. The children were also encouraged to evaluate the materials and ask questions about the differences and similarities of materials. The practical helped consolidate the childrens’ knowledge of materials through a variety of speaking and listening activities.
