We have continued to explore our space topic this week. We focussed on the story, Suzy Orbit Astronaut which is a story about saving Earth from a meteoroid storm. We acted out parts of the story both inside and outdoors, making space themed vehicles and structures from the story. On Wednesday we had a visitor to nursery called Jamie who has a degree in space engineering and tracks space objects at RAF Fylingdales in Yorkshire. Jamie taught us about the different sections of rockets and what they are called as well as what they do. We then made 3D space themed structures and rockets with junk materials and building blocks. We had prepared some questions which arose from reading Suzy Orbit Astronaut as although the book is fictional, it uses a lot of space vocabulary like; meteoroid, Luna, space engineer, astronaut, solar system and space pod to name a few. Jamie answered all of our questions and taught us lots of other interesting facts too.
